The all-new 2017 Honda Ridgeline goes on sale today, carrying a starting manufacturer suggested retail price of $29,475 for the RT 2WD model and $31,275 for the RT AWD. The top-of-the-line “Black Edition” costs $42,870.
Arriving today at dealerships across the United States, the second-generation Ridgeline was redesigned with an ultra-rigid body structure, which delivers a class-leading maximum 1,584-pound payload capacity and up to 5,000-pound towing. Inside, the midsize pickup truck boasts the largest and most flexible cabin in its segment.
The Ridgeline’s new, more powerful V6 engine returns EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway/22 mpg combined for 2WD models, and 18 mpg/25 mpg/21 mpg for AWD vehicles. According to Honda, those fuel efficiency numbers are the best in its class.
With better payload and towing capacity, more power and efficiency, and a less awkward design, the 2017 Ridgeline is a definite improvement over its predecessor.
“We’ve advanced the best and most beloved elements of the original Ridgeline and combined them with an outstanding new platform and the most advanced technology to create new value in the midsize pickup segment,” Honda executive Jeff Conrad said in a statement. “The result is an amazingly versatile Honda truck with uncompromised capability.”
The Ridgeline also offers some new tech advancements, most notably the industry-first Truck Bed Audio system, which was featured in the vehicle’s 2016 Super Bowl commercial. The Ridgeline also features an available 400 watt in-bed power outlet and Honda-exclusive In-Bed Trunk and Dual Action Tailgate, all designed to make the Ridgeline the
ultimate tailgate party” vehicle.
Additionally, Honda claims the 2017 Ridgeline is the first midsize pickup truck to target the highest collision safety ratings when equipped with Honda Sensing safety technology. Though the Ridgeline has yet to receive official safety ratings, Honda is anticipating a 5-star rating from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the IIHS.
