The 2019 Audi Q7 grabbed the top spot of the U.S. News & World Report Best Cars for Families awards in the luxury three-row SUV segment. According to Executive Editor Jamie Page Deaton, there were two factors that contributed to this win: the Q7’s bigger backseat and its “Good” score for LATCH connectors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This goes to show that when you’re offering a vehicle in a crowded segment, it’s the little things that count.

Get the Bigger Picture: How the Audi Q7 delivers superior comfort and accessibility

“Both may seem rather basic, but they are the two areas where the competition faltered,” said Deaton. “When you also add in the excellent reviews the Q7 earned from the automotive press, as well as available family-friendly features like rear seat USB ports, a 360-degree camera system, a hands-free lift gate, and rear sunshades, it’s clear the Q7 is the best choice for families who want an SUV without compromise.”

With seating for seven, terrific performance, and cutting-edge technology, the Q7’s win shouldn’t come as all that much of a surprise. The Q7 boasts standard quattro all-wheel drive and up to 7,700 pounds of towing capacity with the available 55 TFSI 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. It also offers a spacious and well-appointed interior, and innovative features like available Audi phone box and Audi virtual cockpit.

The 2019 Audi Q7 was also named a KBB.com Best Buy of 2019, earning praise from judges for its “quality, luxury, style, and utility, all backed by a sublime level of refinement.”
