2019 Cadillac CT6 launches in China

The 2019 Cadillac CT6 launches in China days after its American discontinuation was announced

In what one might call a bit of fortunate timing, Cadillac launched the latest version of its CT6 flagship sedan in China on Friday at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing. The launch proper comes only days after it was revealed that the CT6 will be discontinued in the United States but likely not leaving the Chinese market any time soon.

“The new CT6 once again demonstrates Cadillac’s standard for product luxury. We are committed to continue the CT6’s success in China for several years to come,” said Dr. Andreas Schaaf, vice president, Global Cadillac. “By offering both Premium Luxury and Sport versions of the new CT6, we will reach a broader luxury customer base.”

The 2019 Cadillac CT6 will carry a price range of approximately $54,560 to $77.555 USD (RMB 379,700 to RMB 539,700). The new CT6 sports the all-new 2.0-liter turbo with Cadillac’s Tripower system, which enables three different operating modes to allow drivers their preferred balance between performance and efficiency. The U.S.-spec 2.0-liter turbo-four puts out 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Other new features to the 2019 Cadillac CT6 include the latest version of the Cadillac user experience, which supports over-the-air OnStar updates, a lightweight body with best-in-class torsional rigidity, E-boost for improved braking dynamics, and a revamped interior that takes on Cadillac’s “Y” trim strategy.

Despite the Cadillac CT6’s inevitable disappearance in the United States, it will likely remain a fixture in China for some time to come. It has been a major factor in Cadillac’s significant growth in China, which should this year culminate in a full-year sales total exceeding 200,000 vehicles.
