What’s New for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the first of a whole new generation of the Silverado name, This includes an extensive exterior redesign, with a new front grille, more aerodynamic side sculpting, a longer wheelbase, and a new bed, which Chevy dubbed the Durabed. Under the skin, the 2019 Silverado 1500 features a new mixed-material construction with a high-strength steel frame, in all shedding 450 pounds compared to the previous model.
For power, the Silverado 1500 uses five different engines: a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 6.2-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbo-diesel (though the last of these was not available at time of writing). The V8 engines use brand-new Dynamic Fuel Management technology, though the 5.3-liter only uses it in higher trims.
The Silverado 1500 now comes in eight total trim levels, broken into three groups. The High Value group includes Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss models. The High Volume group includes LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss models. Finally, the High Features group includes LTZ and High Country models.

The new front fascia and Durabed dominate the exterior of the 2019 Silverado 1500. In particular, the Durabed gives the Silverado best-in-class bed width and length for standard and short boxes, leading them to brag that the short box offers more cargo volume than the competition’s standard box.
Chevy adds a number of features in each of the Trail Boss models to improve the Silverado’s off-road prowess. These include a skid plate, hefty off-road tires, and a factory lift kit.
As for body styles, at time of writing the 2019 Silverado 1500 comes in three configurations: Double Cab, Standard Bed; Crew Cab, Short Bed; and Crew Cab, Standard Bed.

The 2019 Silverado 1500 has five total engines, but has only released information on the four gas engines so far. Their performance numbers are as follows, in order of increasing strength.

- 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder — 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque
- 5.3-liter V8 — 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque

2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Interior
Like the previous generation, the interior amenities of the 2019 Silverado 1500 vary widely based on the trim level, from the sparser Work Truck to the high-luxury High Country. Even the Work Truck, though, includes some interesting features, including the new Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system, a Rear Vision Camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a rear seat occupancy reminder.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Safety
The 2019 Silverado 1500 includes the normal array of safety systems as standard equipment, including three-point seatbelts, a system of six airbags, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Interestingly, it also includes a Rear Vision Camera in every trim, GM’s Teen Driver software, and a rear seat occupancy reminder system, again all as standard equipment.
