2019 Ford Expedition, Edge Named Best Cars for Families
The 2019 Ford Expedition and Ford Edge both landed a spot on the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Cars for Families list. This makes three consecutive years that the Edge has been among the winners and the second year that the latest-generation Expedition has earned the honor.
“The Best Cars for Families awards highlight cars, vans and SUVs that will work for all stages of family life. The winners have what it takes to entertain toddlers and help teen drivers develop good driving habits,” said Jamie Page Deaton, executive editor of U.S. News Best Cars. “The best family cars keep everyone comfortable while also offering the latest in safety and connectivity features.”
The Ford Edge, which is all-new for 2019, earned the title of Best 2-Row SUV for Families. It gained plaudits for its spacious seating accommodations, sizable cargo area, Ford Co-Pilot360 safety features, connectivity, rear-seat entertainment options, and FordPass Connect 4G LTE Wi-Fi which is said to be perfect for “streaming content or just posting Dad jokes on Facebook.”
The 2019 Ford Expedition once again earned the title of Best Large SUV for Families, garnering praise for everything from its eight-person seating capacity to its maximum towing capacity of 9,300 pounds. U.S. World & News Report specifically recommended the Expedition MAX for its 121.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, adding that “If you need more space than that, odds are you have too much stuff.”
For the 2019 Best Cars for Families awards, U.S. News & World Report’s editors pored over 129 new 2019 model-year vehicles. Factors that were compared included professional reviews, safety ratings, family-friendly features, and cargo and passenger dimensions.
