Volkswagen has confirmed the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI price tag. The automaker announced Wednesday that the performance sedan’s MSRP will start at $25,995.

This year’s model marks 35 years since its inception in 1984, and it has far advanced its original model.

Everybody knows: That the Volkswagen Jetta is awesome

The 2019 Jetta GLI takes it up a notch with additional power with its direct-injection EA888 TSI engine, which it shares with the GTI model. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine cranks out 228 horsepower with premium fuel and 258 lb-ft of torque. This model year adds 18 more horsepower and 41 lb-ft more of torque than the previous year.

Drivers can choose from four driving modes with its Driving Mode Selection: “Normal,” “Sport,” “Eco,” and “Custom.”

Regardless of the transmission you pick, you get an efficient return with 25 city mpg, 32 highway mpg, and 28 combined mpg.

You can expect the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI in two trim levels: the S and Autobahn. The S includes a standard six-speed manual transmission, 18-inch aluminum wheels, LED projector headlights, and LED Daytime Running Lights. Its Autobahn trim level has a panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touch-screen display, and a 400 Watt BeatsAudio sound system.

Volkswagen also plans to release a 35th Anniversary Edition, which adds a fifth driving mode — “Comfort” — and enables drivers to modify damping systems with the DCC adaptive damping system.

The GLI will feature the People First Warranty, which offers coverage for the first six years of ownership or 72,000 miles — whichever comes before the other.
