Earlier this month, Cadillac ushered in a new era in the largest new car market on the planet — and its largest market — with the debut of the CT5 sedan. The 2020 Cadillac CT5 debuts in China amidst a global product offensive that has the luxury brand overhauling its lineup from top to bottom, slotting between the CT4 small luxury sedan and the CT6 large luxury sedan.

The 2020 Cadillac CT5 made its China debut earlier this month at the Chengdu Motor Show. Carrying over design hallmarks from the Escala concept and sporting a new rear-wheel-drive architecture that enables a perfect 50:50 balance, the CT5 looks the part of a world-beating midsize luxury sedan. Its most striking feature may be its swooping, coupe-like roofline, which gives the Cadillac CT5 a distinct aerodynamic profile even at rest.

When the CT5 originally debuted in New York earlier this year, it was revealed that it will carry the 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbo four-cylinder engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include advanced Sound Optimization with Active Noise Cancellation, the latest Cadillac user experience with a rotary controller, a 10-inch high-def touchscreen display, and safety technologies like Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking.

The 2020 Cadillac CT5 is the latest vehicle to use the Y trim strategy, starting with the Luxury trim as the base offering and branching upward to either the Premium Luxury trim or the Sport trim. Both the CT5 Premium Luxury and CT5 Sport are available with a Platinum package, and each shares technologies like Wireless Charging and Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert.

The 2020 Cadillac CT5 will arrive at dealerships in China toward the end of this year.
