Although some thought Chevrolet was replacing the Trax with a Blazer lookalike, the automaker decided, “Why mess with something that works?” and decided to create the 2021 Trailblazer. The 2020 Trax features the same design elements as previous years on the outside and under the hood.

The 2020 Chevrolet Trax is available at three trim levels: LS, LT, and Premier. All models come with standard front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.

What’s new for the 2020 Chevrolet Trax?

Efficiency got slightly better on the new Trax, upping the SUV’s mpg to 26 in the city instead of 25 with the 2019 model. On the outside, the 2020 Trax is no longer available in the following colors: Storm Blue Metallic, Sandy Ridge Metallic, and Dark Copper Metallic. All other colors remain for the new model year, with the Pacific Blue Metallic and Cajun Red Tintcoat only available on the LT and Premier trims.

Exterior

As mentioned previously, not much has changed on the exterior of the 2020 Trax. It features standard 16-inch blackwall tires and painted-aluminum wheels, Daytime Running Lamps, body-color handles and outside mirrors, and sculpted taillamps. The tires and wheels get two inches bigger on the Premier trim, which also gets exclusive chrome details from front to back as well as fog lamps and a power sunroof. An extra touch of customization can be had with the Redline Edition package, which adds black bowtie badges on the front and rear, 18-inch black-finish wheels with red accent stripes, and additional black accents.

Interior

Inside the 2020 Trax, you’ll find a collection of standard features you would come to expect on a modern small SUV. On the LS and LT trims, you get a four-way manual driver’s seat and a two-way manual front passenger’s seat, a six-speaker audio system, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System with a 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen. The Premier trim is where you’ll see upgraded amenities like a six-way power driver’s seat, a Bose premium seven-speaker audio system, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leatherette seat trim.

Performance and Fuel Efficiency

Because the 2020 Chevy Trax is equipped with the same 1.4-liter turbocharged EcoTec engine that was on the 2019 model, not much has changed in terms of performance and efficiency. When paired with the standard six-speed automatic transmission, the Trax can get 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Fuel efficiency across all trims is set at 26 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg combined.

Safety

With its small size, a top concern for drivers of the Trax is always safety. Thankfully, Chevy has equipped the 2020 Trax with a bevy of standard features to keep you secure on every drive. Standard safety systems include a rear vision camera, rear child security door locks, StabiliTrak, and a tire pressure monitoring system. When you upgrade to the LT trim, LED Daytime Running Lamps are added to the model. However, it’s the 2020 Trax Premier that gets the ultimate safety suite, featuring helpful systems like Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Park Assist, and Side Blind Zone Alert.
