3 Ways to Help Your Online Automotive Business

Online Car Shopping

Even though everyone uses the internet to buy items, there is always a tiny amount of distrust. You’re not in the physical store to try out the item and it may not arrive as you had it in your mind.

The shirt may be a size too small, the laptop screen could have cracked during delivery or the screwdriver may not be exactly what you were looking for.

Even though very few people buy cars directly online, an overwhelming majority do use the power of the internet to do research about a dealership, car type or even salesperson.

If you are someone who specializes in buying/selling cars or have your own online dealership, there are a number of ways you can increase your online presence and help build up your business to keep the wheels turning.

Look professional

If you were trying to sell a car in person, you wouldn’t show up in tattered jeans and your college’s fraternity shirt. You wouldn’t replace a handshake with a mock salute or head nod. The same applies to your website.

One of the easiest ways to keep customers on your page is to have a professional looking web page that doesn’t look like it was designed by a child. Keep things neat and orderly where consumers can easily navigate the pages.

Make the search functions easy for them as well so they don’t have to bounce around all types of different pages to just find the one thing they want.

When it comes to pictures, invest in a good camera and make sure to take as many pictures as possible. This is not one of those circumstances where “less is more”. People are going to want to get the full picture of the car before they check it out. Include as many details on there as possible so people won’t feel like you’re trying to hide something about the car itself.

Last but not least, choose a professional and easy domain name for your website. It can simply be your business’ name, but you want people to easily find you.

You can dress to impress but you also have to design to wine and dine? You get the idea.

Set up a content schedule

One of the great ways to interact with all types of customers is through content you put out on your website. That could be everything from blogging about how often you should be getting a car checkup to cool, new trends in the car industry.

You could make a series of blogs, such as “5 Great Cars for the Parents-To-Be” or “The 3 Best Cars for your Outdoor Adventures”. Think of something that can be engaging and interesting to read.

The best piece of advice is to put out content regularly. Don’t wait one week here, five weeks there and go without a schedule. Make a schedule and stick to it.

Online marketing

While this section could be its own article, there are a number of ways you can improve your online presence through marketing. You could advertise your business on other websites or reach out to local influencers who will promote your content. You may already have the offline marketing nailed down to a T, so speak with someone who has an expert in the situation and find out how you can maximize this area.

One “free” way is through your social media campaigns. By maximizing your Facebook, Instagram or Twitter pages, you could reach out to countless people just by keeping these pages updated. This is especially useful to maximize your reach into your local community. You can partner with local businesses, events, festivals or what have you. The last way is by creating certain email campaigns to reach out directly to customers with promotions, deals, and new announcements. While not everyone in your area has a social media account (although it’s likely) everyone is guaranteed to have an email account. An email campaign is much easier to manage and much cheaper than buying a spot on the radio or TV. It’s also a way to control when and how people are going to see what your business has to offer.
