Like many states, Texas is home to several car museums well worth checking out. From large collections to small, here are five car museums in Texas to visit.

Austin Rock & Roll Car Museum

A trip to the Austin Rock & Roll Car Museum is a must for every automotive enthusiast, though you’ll need to plan ahead as the museum is only open the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. It’s well worth checking out though, as the museum has a unique collection of antique race cars, movie production vehicles, and music memorabilia. The display changes frequently, so even if you visit the museum multiple times you’ll likely see something different every time.

The Art Car Museum of Houston, also known as “Garage Mahal,” is the perfect mixture of automotive history and unique art. Vehicles on display range from ornately decorated classic cars to bicycles and concept vehicles. The museum also participates in the annual Houston Art Car Parade in the spring. Visit the museum Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
