For many Americans, holiday road trips are an integral part of the Yuletide season. Here are five destinations in Michigan to drive to the next time you need a little help getting in the Christmas mood

Tire TLC: Know when it’s time to replace your vehicle’s tires

Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland

Get festive in Frankenmuth when you browse the aisles of Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. This Christmas store offers 320,000 square feet of space to find the perfect holiday ornament, decoration, or gift for a family member or friend. Check out the venue’s website and Facebook page to plan your visit to coincide during one of the store’s seasonal events like holiday sing-alongs or Santa visits.

Holiday Kerstmarkt

Each year in early December, Holland holds its yearly Holiday Kerstmarkt, featuring gifts and foods that harken back to European Christmases of the past. Complement your market excursion by touring the historical Cappon House and learning more about Victorian-era seasonal traditions.

The Singing Christmas Tree

Feel merry in Muskegon when you catch Mona Shores High School’s annual choral and orchestra performance dubbed “The Singing Christmas Tree.” Tiered rows of student choir members comprise the “tree.” Per the event’s website, over 1,500 linear feet of electrical wire, over 5,000 linear feet of special greenery imported from Germany, and more than 25,000 colored lights decorate the structure.

Mackinac Island Christmas Bazaar

Retreat from the hustle and bustle of the mainland when you take the single wintertime ferry to Mackinac Island. Soak in the solitude as you try your luck skiing and/or snowshoeing. Visit in early December to catch the annual tree lighting ceremony and Christmas carols and shop at the Christmas Bazaar that runs through Christmas Eve.

The Farm by Lantern Light

Catch a play, go on a sleigh ride, and tour the farm on a winter’s night in Grayling when you attend Wellington Farm’s yearly holiday event. Contact the venue or check out its Facebook page for more information about this happening.

Another fun way to enjoy the holiday in Michigan is to catch one of these drive-thru light displays. And put together a seasonal playlist to listen to during the drive, to make the outing even more delightful.
