New Year’s Eve Murder Mystery Dinner
Start off 2020 with some suspenseful fun when you book tickets to the Murder Mystery Dinner at Maggiano’s on East 86th Street in Indianapolis. The event will occur on Dec. 31 from 7-10 p.m. Feast on a three-course family-style meal while actors stage an interactive performance. While guests can sit back and relax instead of taking the spotlight, you can still offer clues as you and the other guests help solve the mystery.
New Year’s Eve ’20s Style
For a Roaring 20s themed dining celebration, reserve tickets for Blackhawk Winery’s New Year’s Eve event. Period dress is encouraged but not required. Ticket price includes dinner, nonalcoholic beverages, a murder mystery performance, and a midnight toast. Though the winery’s vino varietals are available for purchase.
Kokomo Winter Blues Fest
Kick off the new year in a soulful way when you attend the Kokomo Winter Blues Fest on Dec. 31 at Phi Delta Kapa Beta Nu in Kokomo. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the event continues through 12:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Immerse yourself in live performances from local blues artists while enjoying tasty food and drink. There’s also a free champagne toast, as well as corn beef and cabbage, if you stay until midnight.
Family New Year’s Eve
If you have children, you might want to party earlier in the evening to ensure that young ones get to bed at a decent hour. That’s where Family New Year’s Eve at the Indiana State Museum comes in. The festivities start at 6 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. Activities include magician demonstrations, dancing, music, and face painting. The highlight of this event is the 8 p.m. New Year countdown in the Great Hall, complete with a balloon drop.
Countdown to Noon
For an even earlier family-friendly celebration, attend the Countdown to Noon event at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Create a paper time capsule and enjoy some party favors with your children. Then listen to music from Grammy-nominated Zak Morgan right before the noon and 1 p.m. countdowns.
Prefer to party in the new year out of state? Consider attending one of these hooplas in Ohio — or one of these shindigs in Illinois.
