Just in time for Christmas, Chevrolet and the One World Play Project delivered 6,440 One World Futbols to 322 schools throughout the Dien Bien province in Vietnam. The delivery of the specially-branded, ultra-durable futbols is part of the auto brand’s mission to help bring joy and sport to needy children in economically disadvantaged regions.
“Play is a fundamental human need that transcends cultures and impacts all ages,” said Nguyen Van Quy, General Motors Vietnam Director of Government Relations—Public Policy and Communications. “Through our partnership with Football for All in Vietnam (FFAV), the Medical Committee Netherland Vietnam (MCNV) and One World Play Project, Chevrolet is fueling ingenuity and imagination for children and adults alike, driving home that through play we can turn possibilities into realities.”
“Play enables hope, opportunity and optimism in the most difficult situations,” said Lisa Tarver, Chief Impact Officer, One World Play Project. “While the technology in the donated footballs is unique, the real magic is in what happens when children are empowered to play. The ball is a tool that unlocks human potential. Through our collaboration with Chevrolet, we are fulfilling our mission to maximize the power of play and transform lives.”
The donation was made possible through a partnership between FFAV, MCNV, and One World Play Project. Dien Bien was chosen as it is one of the poorest Vietnamese provinces, making it an ideal place for the groups to exemplify the ideal that where there exists play, there exist beautiful possibilities.
The Chevy-branded One World Futbols are engineered specifically for long-term play in even the harshest environments, built to never need reinflation. Since 2012, Chevy and One World Play Project have donated more than 1.6 million futbols in areas affected by everything from war and natural disaster to economic impoverishment.
