Canadian Teens Push a Stranded Driver’s Broken-Down Chevy Home
Sometimes in the surge of negative headlines you find a few drops of positive stories that restore your hope in humanity. A recent story that hails from Fonthill, Ontario falls into that category. Learn more about the charitable teens who went the extra mile (literally) for a stranded driver in need.
The dilemma
According to The Drive’s Stef Schrader, a woman was driving home in the Chevy Cobalt she’d bought just six weeks before. The car suddenly broke down in the middle of an intersection in Fonthill. Since she couldn’t afford a tow truck, and her roommate had to be at work at 5 a.m., she was in quite the bind.

The rescue
Around that same time, three local teens — Aeron McQuillin, Bailey Campbell, and Billy Tarbett — were driving to Tim Horton’s. Before they reached their destination, they came across the debilitated car. They parked their vehicle behind it to investigate the situation and inspect the car. Besides the smoking engine, they discovered a leak that was causing the oil and coolant to mix together.
They decided that the woman shouldn’t drive or start the vehicle in its current condition. So, they drove their car to the woman’s house, nearly 6 miles away, where they parked it. Then they grabbed some water bottles and a speaker and rode back with another Good Samaritan, Dan Morrison.
With Morrison’s vehicle behind them to illuminate the way, the three teens pushed the vehicle to the sounds of rap that emanated from their speaker. Over 1.5 hours later, the incapacitated Chevy arrived back home with its thankful owner.
Concluding thoughts
Per The Drive, the teens were surprised that their story went viral on social media — and scored them a CNN interview. They just wanted to do a good deed. Their humble example is a great reminder to all of us to lend a helping hand when the opportunity arises.
