NHTSA Awards 2015 Chrysler 200 a Five-Star Overall Safety Rating
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles today so humbly boasted that fact that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2015 Chrysler 200 a five-star overall safety rating, the highest safety honor a vehicle can receive from the safety watchdog. Specifically, the 200 received five stars in the frontal collision test, side-impact test (two-vehicles), and side impact test (one vehicle and a pole).

The award given out by the government agency complements the Top Safety Pick+ recently awarded to the Chrysler 200 from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Top Safety Pick+ is also the highest award that a vehicle can receive, so kudos to Chrysler on that one, but we get it by now, your car is freakin’ safe.
So what is it that makes the 200 so freakin’ safe? Simply put, it’s got a helluva lot of safety features, both active and passive, that not only protect passengers during and after a crash, but also work to prevent the crash from happening all together. It also doesn’t hurt that hot-stamped, high-strength, advanced high-strength, and boron steels make up around 65% of the 2015 Chrysler 200’s body structure.
Scott Kunselman, Chrysler Group’s Senior Vice President and Head of Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance, summed it up quite well: “The Chrysler 200’s superior performance in such safety tests validates our continuing efforts to deliver the latest advancements in both passive and active safety technologies.”
