Audi A7 Sedan History

The Audi A7 Sedan is a true beauty among five-door hatchback sedans. The A7 is built from the A6 sedan, adding a distinctive coupe-style roof. It features a steeply raked rear window, integrated trunk lid, and frameless doors, and as such, is referred to as a “Sportback.” Audi maintains its reputation for quality design, attention to detail, and tasteful luxury with both the interior and exterior details.

Early History

Unveiled for the first time at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, the A7 sedan was a sight to behold. Audi arrived a bit late to the market, but they outdid themselves with a “Sportback” that would rival the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the Porsche Panamera, and the BMW 5 Series GT.

The first models were available for sale in Europe in late 2010, and then available in the U.S. for 2012 model year vehicles. The 2012 models included 3.0 TFSI Quattro (310PS) with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Recent History

Only a few minor feature and option changes were made between the 2012 and 2013 model years. The 2014 model year has introduced the new available turbocharged 3.0-liter TDI® clean diesel engine which results in improved mpg and a higher torque output.
