Best Pickup Truck Title Awarded to 2018 Ram 1500 by Auto Journalists

After thorough testing, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) have voted that the 2018 Ram 1500, Canada’s second best-selling vehicle, is worthy of the title, Best Pickup Truck. With this nod, the 2018 Ram 1500 is now in the running for the honor of Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year.

The Ram 1500 bested six competitors for the AJAC’s top pickup truck distinction. This year the journalists were able to not only consider new vehicles to the market, but they also reviewed returning models. As a result, 182 vehicles were evaluated by the journalists, who cast approximately 3,000 votes.

According to FCA, “The current Ram 1500 is a seasoned competitor, boasting numerous segment-exclusive features, including a unique multilink coil spring rear suspension system with optional air suspension and RamBox bedside storage. Available in a long list of unique trim levels, the Ram 1500 has a full-size pickup for everyone.”

The 2018 Ram 1500 is available at six trim levels: Tradesman, Express, Lone Star, Big Horn, Sport, and Night. The well-equipped truck is available in 4×2 or 4×4 at three cab configurations: Crew Cab, Quad Cab®, and Regular Cab.

The 2018 Ram 1500 features three powerful engine choices: a 3.6-liter V6 24-valve VVT, a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI MDS VVT, and a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6. Each engine is mated to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. Equipped with the V6 engine, the Ram 1500 generates 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque; the V8 generates 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque; and the diesel engine generates 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.
