BMW Group Sets Sales Record in August

June BMW sales

August was a good month for the BMW Group, to say the least. The automaker had their best ever August in sales globally, delivering 156,437 vehicles bearing the BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce brands. This is up 7.2% from August of 2014. The first eight months of BMW Group sales for 2015 are up 7.4% compared to the same period in 2014.

The BMW brand alone grew sales by 7.6% in August, which is good news for the luxury brand. The brand delivered 135,735 vehicles in total around the world in August. In the United States, BMW brand sales for the 8 months of 2015 are up 7.3% compared to the same period in 2014. MINI sales also grew, with a 5% increase over August of 2014 and 20,471 vehicles delivered.

BMW credits its sales growth with the BMW brand’s models, many of which were refreshed or recently overhauled. For example, sales of the newly-updated BMW 3 Series were up 4.4% year-over-year from last year.

“Whilst the general economic situation remains challenging in some markets, we are consistently selling more vehicles than ever before around the world.” said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Sales and Marketing BMW. He went on to explain that many automakers are seeing changes in sales because of the changing Chinese market, but BMW has maintained a global focus to make sure BMW performs well, regardless of the difficulties in one particular country.

It will be interesting to see how the BMW Group’s sales change as highly-anticipated models, such as the 2016 BMW 7 Series, are released to dealerships later this year.
