Buick sales totaled 20,708 vehicles in December (up 1.7% year-over-year), bringing the brand’s full-year total for 2015 to 223,055 vehicles sold in the United States. Despite the bulk of its vehicle lineup being swept up by consumer indifference to sedans, Buick sales fell only slightly from its 2014 total thanks solely to a record-smashing year from the Encore.

The Buick Encore posted its 24th consecutive month of year-over-year growth in December by more than doubling its December 2014 total, with 6,498 units sold in 2015 as opposed to 3,102 in the year prior. This impressive figure brings Buick’s year-end total for Encore sales to 67,549 units, a 38.2% increase from 2014’s final total.

This was in many ways Buick’s saving grace in 2015. While sales of the Enclave were basically flat at 62,081 vehicles sold this past year, all three sedans in its lineup—the LaCrosse, Regal, and Verano—were all down double digits as consumers veered increasingly toward crossovers and SUVs.

Fortunately, Buick is quite likely to increase its sales mark next year thanks to the additions of the Envision crossover and Cascada convertible to the lineup, the availability of new Sport Touring trims for the sedans and Encore, the Enclave Tuscan Edition, and the eventual launch of the new-look 2017 LaCrosse.
