Buick currently finds itself at a crossroads. For the longest time, the vast majority of Buick’s lineup has borrowed design elements from the Opel automotive brand.

With General Motors having recently sold Opel, Buick will now need to develop a design language all its own. GM recently showcased what that design language might be.

All of the Vehicles that Buick Offers: The Buick Model Lineup

The team at Car Design News received the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Buick design studio. It was during this time that the attendees witnessed a conceptual model that might represent the Buick design language moving forward.

This concept car was referred to as the “Orange Car.” Car Design News described the vehicle as being both “bold” and “aggressive.” Unfortunately, photography of the model was prohibited.

The Orange Car has not yet been approved for production by Buick. Still, its influence is already spreading to some of the other Buick vehicles that are in production.

Car Design News also got to see a four-door crossover with a swooping roofline. This vehicle took some of its design cues from the Orange Car in question.

During the tour, Buick also confirmed that it would not be relegated to a China-only brand. Instead, the automaker is staying committed to several global markets, including Australia and, of course, the U.S.

Only time will tell if the Orange Car enters the Buick lineup as a bona fide Buick vehicle. What is evident is that this conceptual vehicle will help model Buick’s design language as the brand enters the next chapter of its mission to create luxurious automobiles.
