2017 Buick Encore model overview

Buick sales in May totaled 20,077 units in the United States, good for a 28.5% year-over-year increase from 2016. Retail sales were also up double digits, growing 11.5% to 17,360 units delivered.

As could be reasonably deduced from recent history, the carriers of the lion’s share for Buick in May were none other than the Encore and Envision. The former saw a 12.3% year-over-year sales increase at 7,324 units and its best May performance ever at retail, while the latter celebrated the anniversary of its arrival in the United States with deliveries totaling 4,406 units and its ascension into the position of the brand’s second-most-popular model.

Through May, Encore sales are up 17.9% at 35,768 units, which accounts for 39% of all Buicks sold in the United States thus far in 2017. The Envision is second in terms of volume with sales totaling 17,613 units; its sales combined with those of the Encore account for 58.6% of all Buick sales.

Enclave sales were down 5.7% at 3,017 units; through May, its sales are down 22.4% at 16,036 units.

The Buick LaCrosse was also a big winner in May with an 88.7% sales increase. LaCrosse sales totaled 3,183 units, well ahead of combined sales for the Cascada (610 units), Regal (1,043 units), and Verano (494 units). Through five months, however, every car in Buick’s lineup has seen double-digit year-over-year sales declines.

On the strength of the Encore and Envision alone, Buick sales are up 3.9% through May at 91,017 units delivered. Retail sales for the same period are up 7.7% at 83,437 units.
