Cadillac Ranch

Stonehenge… the Taj Mahal… Cadillac Ranch.
These are some of the great manmade wonders of the world. The latter is found in Amarillo, Texas, and was created in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez and Dough Michels of the avant-garde art group Ant Farm. Basically, the took some used Cadillacs, ranging in models from 1949 to 1963, and buried them into a cow pasture, nose-first, at an angle corresponding to that of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
While most of the great structures are tirelessly preserved for future generations, Cadillac Ranch invites change, and it just got a big make over for a worthy cause.
As part of Donate Life Month, each Caddy just got a fresh coat of paint, and had inspiring words written on to the vehicles. The goal is to make this iconic art installation an inspiration for tourists and other visitors, and get them to consider donating blood or becoming an organ donor.
