Celebrate the Happy Honda Days By Helping Raise Money for Orange County Children’s Hospital

Honda Uses Virtual Reality to Bring Holiday Cheer to Pediatric Patients

As true observers know, the “Happy Honda Days” aren’t just about shopping and crass commercialism—this is also a season of giving. There’s a reason that charitable donations always tend to spike around this time of year, you know.

For its part, Honda celebrated the season by giving a special experience to kids stuck spending the holidays at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children’s), which included a virtual drive down its “Candy Cane Lane” via Oculus headsets.

The children’s reactions were captured in this touching video:

In addition to being shared on the brand’s YouTube and Twitter channels, Honda has also posted the video to Facebook, where for every “like” or “love” reaction the clip receives, the automaker will donate $1 to CHOC Children’s and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, for up to a total of $100,000. The fundraiser runs through January 2, 2017, and you can do your part by going here to like or love the video (either works, but we’re strongly encouraging the love option—tis the season, you know).

“This year Honda has the unique privilege of transporting children at CHOC Children’s to a virtual winter wonderland that brings the festive spirit of the holidays to the kids directly,” said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President of Honda Auto Marketing. “Seeing the kids’ heartfelt reactions to the experience and being able to bring magic to their hospital stay is especially meaningful during the holidays.”

She’s right—if this video doesn’t remind you of the true meaning of the Happy Honda Days, then I don’t know what could possibly melt your icy heart.
