The SUV’s legacy in Hollywood

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce presented the Chevrolet Suburban with the Award of Excellence star on Dec. 5. The star was first revealed at a Hollywood Boulevard ceremony, which honored the SUV’s acting career spanning 67 years.

The Suburban has its first acting job back in 1952. From then until the present, the SUV has appeared in over 1,750 TV series and films. Since 1956, the SUV has starred in at least one TV show each year. Since 1960, the vehicle was in at least one movie each year. 30 of these films received award nominations.

Thanks to its versatility, the Suburban has been able to take on the role of the family, hero, and villain, leading to its Hollywood Walk of Fame star. The Chevrolet Tahoe has also had an impressive career in Hollywood, having been in at least one TV show and film every year since 1995. When combining the filmographies of both vehicles, they have starred in over 2,500 TV series and movies.

Rana Ghadban, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said, “Appearing in classic feature films and on must-see television shows, the Suburban is a well-established industry mainstay. With the Chevrolet Tahoe also making an impact in movies and on television, it’s impressive to have both vehicles now join an illustrious group of actors and characters that are forever known as Hollywood legends.”
