To imagine the future, Chevy is taking a step back in time — all the way back to 1962. The new Chevy E-10 Concept electric truck boasts plenty of retro style alongside cutting-edge vehicle electrification technology.
Its Connect & Cruise concept crate propulsion package delivers a hefty 450 horsepower — and best of all, it’s made with components from the trusty Chevy Bolt. This unique system is made of a double stack of Chevy eCrate concept motors, a conventional SuperMatic™ 4L75-E transmission and two 400-volt production-model Chevy Volt batteries, mounted in the truck bed under a hard tonneau cover.

Thanks to this innovative powertrain, it boasts an expected 0-60 time of about five seconds, as well as a quarter-mile time in the ballpark of 13 seconds.
Of course, since no hot rod is complete without the roar of its engine, the E-10 concept boasts a three-speaker sound emulator that mimics the growl of a V8. To help it feel more natural, the sounds shift when the vehicle changes gear. The driver can even select which sounds to use, such as futuristic sounds, LS7 Z28 track tuning, or silence.
Chevy is proud of the fact that the model’s very existence highlights the possibility of electrifying classic cars. Jim Campbell, vice president of Performance and Motorsports, elaborated on the issue, stating, “As General Motors continues to work toward our vision of a zero-emissions world, concepts such as this help us get there, while still supporting the enthusiasts who love to drive vintage vehicles.”
The E-10 Concept isn’t the first electric Chevy hot rod. According to Russ O’Blenes, director of Chevrolet’s Performance Variants, Parts & Motorsports, the truck follows the trails blazed by the eCOPO Camaro. Thanks to the team’s experience with the Camaro, the concept truck was whipped up rather quickly, according to Campbell. It took just 18 weeks for Chevy’s talented team of engineers to convert the classic truck and bring the concept to life.
