The Chevy Spark recently made Edmunds’ list of top budget commuter cars. Per Dan Frio with Edmunds, the publication’s editors chose their top seven vehicles based on infotainment features as well as fuel economy. That’s because modern commuters value an engaging driving experience as well as efficiency.
Why the Chevy Spark?
The 2019 Spark makes an excellent commuter vehicle for a variety of reasons. First of all, its petite size —63 inches wide and 143 inches long — makes it easy to navigate tight urban streets and maneuver into cramped parking spaces.
Secondly, it gets an EPA-estimated 38 mpg on the highway, when equipped with CVT. The manual transmission version gets 1 more mpg on the highway, for those who desire even more efficiency.

Thirdly, the Spark contains a variety of interior tech for a connected and engaging drive. Each trim comes standard with Bluetooth as well as a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, so you can access navigation functions, stay in touch with contacts, and access favorite apps and playlists. The 1LT trim and higher boast SiriusXM Satellite Radio for expanded music-listening options.
Fourthly, the Spark offers some added perks to make the drive more comfortable and convenient. A rear-window defogger enhances visibility in inclement weather while available heated front seats keep you and one other passenger cozier on chilly days. Available cruise control and an enhanced driver information center display make your job behind the wheel a bit easier.
Edmunds editors also commended the Chevy Spark for its affordable price tag. This model has a starting MSRP of $14,095.
Enjoy the Spark while it lasts
Consumers in the market for a new commuter vehicle should acquire the Spark now while it’s available. Recent rumors indicate that GM is poised to replace this model with a new crossover vehicle around 2022.
