Chevy Trax Activ Concept Debuts at SEMA

2017 Chevy Activ Trax concept at SEMA

Among the 20 or so Chevrolet vehicles on display at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week is the Chevy Trax Activ concept, which takes the popular small SUV and adds more tech, a revised interior, and an all-new front-end appearance.

“The Trax Activ concept is all about adventurous fun,” said Todd Parker, Chevy’s design director of exterior component and accessories. “We’ve increased its capability and matched it with styling enhancements that give it an all-new attitude—it’s a Trax that’s ready to make tracks.”

Bad wordplay aside, the primary features of the all-wheel-drive 2017 Trax Activ Concept include a lifted suspension, widened track, and 18-inch Chevrolet Accessories wheels wrapped with all-terrain tires. The bowtie brand also redesigned the front and rear fascias of the vehicle.

According to Chevy, the changes add up to greater ground clearance, better approach and departure angles, and greater grip off the highway. The concept receives increased protection (and style points) from its fender flares.

There’s also more room for cargo storage, in the form of a Thule roof basket, while nighttime off-roading is made safer by the custom LED light bar mounted to it. In terms of storage, Chevy also notes that hauling bikes and other outdoor equipment is made easy by the Trax’s standard 60/40-split-folding rear seat and fold-flat front passenger seat.

Carbon Flash rockers and fender flares, red tow hooks, and tinted headlamp and taillamp lenses accent the custom Satin Sandstorm paint job. The Jet Black interior is complemented by accessory all-weather floor liners, as well as some Satin Graphite accents.
