Chrysler Group Releases 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit Police Vehicle
Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when a badass 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit comes for you? (Pull over safely and abide all state and federal laws, that’s what.)
Chrysler Group has just unleashed the redesigned 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit for our boys in blue, now with a best-in-class 370 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque from its 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine. The HEMI V8 also rockets the Charger Pursuit from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds and still manages 26 mpg. The V6 engine option still allows for 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Sitting on 18-inch performance tires, the Charger Pursuit performance-tuned suspension, heavy-duty anti-lock vented-disc brakes, load-leveling NIVOMAT shocks, front- and rear-stabilizer bars, and two-mode electronic stability control.
The 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit is loaded with the latest safety and security features. The police vehicle boasts standard advanced multistage driver and front-passenger airbags, as well as seat-mounted side-thorax airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, and supplemental side-curtain airbags for front and rear outboard passengers. In total, the Charger Pursuit boasts over 55 other safety features, including driver warning and assist, chassis control, and brake systems; occupant restraint technology; structural systems; lighting and visibility systems; and emergency connectivity and other safety systems.
So that police departments can have exactly what they need, Dodge and Mopar have given the force plenty of options to customize their vehicles precisely. Packages include the base police prep package (with features like a power distribution center, trunk air-circulation fan, siren speaker, slide-out trunk tray, and emergency equipment electric system wire harness) and the wiring prep package (with the power distribution center and emergency equipment electric system wire harness). Other Mopar parts can be ordered separately:
- Ballistic door panels for both the driver and passenger doors
- Horizontal and vertical vinyl graphics
- Police floor console
- Spare-tire relocation bracket
- Steel seat back inserts for both the driver and passenger seats
The 2015 Dodge Charger Pursuit pays homage to the second-gen Charger from back in the late ‘60s, including the Coke-bottle design. The exterior now features LED turn signals and daytime running lights, as well as projector-beam headlamps. It’s now got a forward-leaning front fascia, a full-width grille, and streamlined side scallops.
New technologies include a 7-inch full-color multi-view instrument gauge cluster, a instrument panel center stack with the next-gen Uconnect 5.0 system (including a 5-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth), and hands-free Uconnect Phone.
The Charger also includes a three-spoke thick rim sport steering wheel with large and illuminated buttons.
Dodge also took into consideration feedback from real officers while updating content, such as the Fleet Park Assist Group.
Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge Brand, SRT Brand, and Fleet operations, Chrysler Group LLC, summed up the Charger Pursuit perfectly: “Dodge has a strong police car heritage, and we are proud to offer a vehicle armed with modern muscle and cutting-edge technology to help law enforcement agencies perform their duties…designed to deliver the ultimate performance expected from Dodge.”
