For its dedication in implementing the principles set forth by World Class Manufacturing, the FCA U.S. Tipton Transmission Plant earned a silver award, not only making it the 10th North American manufacturing plant to snag the silver distinction, but also making history as the first transmission plant to be recognized with the coveted honor.

“I want to applaud the team at Tipton for dedicating themselves to achieving silver just two years after receiving bronze,” said Brian Harlow, Vice President – Manufacturing, FCA North America. “This award is not only significant for Tipton, but also for FCA U.S. With five plants earning silver since January, it demonstrates that the pace of WCM implementation is accelerating as our employees continue to develop a deeper understanding of the methodology and share their knowledge with others.”

Goals that the WCM methodology has tasked manufacturing plants with include: improving quality and safety, eliminating waste, and ramping up productivity. WCM wants every aspect of manufacturing plant operations to be touched by their principles and even empowers plant employees to develop ideas for specific job improvement and the plant as a whole.

“WCM has changed the culture in our plants by recognizing that our employees are important to our success, which has also helped create a new spirit of cooperation, based on mutual respect and a focus on our shared future,” said Harlow.
