Ford has announced that the Fiesta has become the all time best-selling vehicle in the UK after cumulative sales of the sporty little hatchback topped 4,115,000 late last month.
It’s an occasion worth celebrating, to be sure. Almost so much so that Ford should consider throwing a party. But they shouldn’t call it a party, you, just so that it’s a bit more original. Rather, they ought to use another word that means party but has a bit more pop to it. If only we could think of a word like that.

“The Ford Fiesta has gone from strength to strength and today’s car combines style, value, driving dynamics and remarkable technologies such as the multi-award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine,” said Mark Ovenden, Ford Britain chairman and managing director, in a statement. “It continues to outsell its nearest retail competitor by more than two to one – and that really tells the story of this extraordinary car.”
The Fiesta has been available in the UK since 1976, and it has led the small car segment in sales for 27 or those 37 years. It’s been the best-selling car in Britain overall since 2009.
The Fiesta surpassed the 4,105,961 mark previously set by its brandmate, the Ford Escort.

According to Ford, 40 percent of all UK buyers choose the Fiesta with the turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoBoost, and around 90 percent of all Fiesta buyers go with a model above the base trim—from the Zetec, Zetec S, Titanium, Titanium X, and ST.
This calls for a celebration! But what to call it…
Oh! We know. A fête Fiesta.
