Lincoln marked a significant milestone in its near-century-long history last week when it delivered its first shipment of vehicles in Shanghai. The long-gestured transition into the world’s largest car market is the move that Lincoln hopes will put its brand of luxury on par with its internationally-sold competitors.
“This is a significant milestone for Lincoln globally,” said Robert Parker, President, Lincoln China. “The journey from design, to the assembly line, and now to Shanghai—represents Ford Motor Company at its best.”

The first models off the boat in Shanghai were the two most recent additions to Lincoln’s lineup: the MKZ and the MKC. These vehicles, along with those that arrive in the next two shipments early in October, will be sold in four luxurious showrooms located between Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou.
Lincoln intends to double that number and operate out of eight dealerships by the end of the year, and it has aspirations of growing the Lincoln lineup in China to five models by the end of 2016.
“This is the culmination of months of teamwork and collaboration both in North America and here in China,” said Parker. “On behalf of the entire team in China, I want to thank and congratulate the team on both sides of the Pacific.”
Lincoln has plans for an early-October grand opening celebration to herald its arrival in China. We will have more details as they become available.
