Ford and Autonomic, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Smart Mobility, have both agreed to multi-year deals with Amazon Web Services that will lead to growth in cloud connectivity and connected car app development. Autonomic is the developer of the Transportation Mobility Cloud, and the deal will see that leading platform powered by AWS in its applications in Ford vehicles.

“This collaboration will significantly expand our opportunity to deliver the very best experiences to Ford vehicle and mobility customers,” said Marcy Klevorn, president of Ford Mobility. “I am excited that our future cloud standard for connected vehicle solutions will be powered by AWS in addition to Autonomic’s Transportation Mobility Cloud. Working with AWS and Autonomic, Ford and our mobility partners will have access to the industry-leading mobility platform.”

Autonomic will also fill the role of Technology Partner for AWS as part of its AWS Partner Network, enabling the company to work with Independent Software Vendors and System Integrators to expand the reach of its services beyond Ford to other auto manufacturers and app developers. With access to the TMC, automakers and app developers will not have to invest in developing their own cloud-based platform. TMC is flexible, brand agnostic, and offers reliable and secure bidirectional connectivity, making it advantageous in multiple uses.

Autonomic was founded in 2016 by Sundeep Madra, Chief Technology Officer Benjamin Black, Chief Operation Officer Amar Varma, and Vice President of Product Management Nithin Rao. Ford acquired the startup in January 2018 as part of its push to expand into mobility and technology solutions.
