Ford announced today that it will be partnering with Wind Energy Corporation in the effort to bring clean energy to Ford dealerships around the country through wind sails and solar panel systems. The Windy System™, as it’s called, is expected to provide around 20,000 kWh annually, which is enough to charge two average-sized homes for an entire year (or a Fusion Energi 2,600 times) and will offset more than 14 tons of greenhouse gases per year.
“We are pleased to be working with Wind Energy Corporation to offer a pioneering, clean energy option to Ford dealers,” said John Felice, vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service for Ford. “This is yet another innovative tool to help Ford and its dealers address a global sustainability challenge.”
The early adopters of the Windy System are:
- Dana Ford Lincoln, Staten Island, New York
- Tom Holzer Ford, Farmington Hills, Michigan
- The Ford Store, Morgan Hill, California
- Fiesta Ford, Indio, California
All told, Wind Energy will invest three-quarters of a million dollars in order to install the Windy System at the four dealerships. The sails will feature the Ford blue oval logo and the dealership’s name, because pride and also branding.
