Ford Launches Enterprise Product Line Management, Names Baumbick VP
Enterprise Product Line Management Vice President Jim Baumbick
Ford Motor Company in August announced the creation of Enterprise Product Line Management, a new organization that will be led by newly appointed vice president Jim Baumbick. Baumbick will oversee 10 teams focusing on different product types and report directly to Ford President of Global Markets Jim Farley. Baumbick’s appointment took effect on Sept. 1.
“Our most successful franchises — from F-150 to Mustang to Transit — are anchored in an obsession for the customer, deep product expertise and an unyielding commitment to strong returns,” Farley said. “By taking this approach, we can raise the bar across our product lines. Each team will have clear accountability for winning in the marketplace and delivering profitable growth.”
A Wearer of Many Hats: The variety of uses for the new Ford Transit
The 10 teams that will make up Enterprise Product Line Management and fall under Baumbick’s purview are F-Series, urban utilities, rugged utilities, family utilities, performance vehicles, commercial vehicles, electric vehicles, compact trucks, luxury vehicles, and vehicles designated for emerging markets. These teams will work in close conjunction with Product Development and Marketing as well as global and regional teams to help Ford realize its ambition of having the freshest showroom in the auto industry within the next few years.
Baumbick, 47, has been with Ford since his time as a Ford College graduate in 1993. Over his 25 years with the company, he has served in a variety of roles and earned the Automotive Hall of Fame’s Young Leadership and Excellence Award in 2003. Baumbick is the current executive director of Global Product Planning and Strategy and retains those responsibilities moving forward.
