Ford Europe Q1 2019 sales

Ford Motor Company earned sales of 359,400 vehicles in its traditional 20 European markets during the first quarter of 2019, down 6.2 percent from 2018. Ford’s 102,400 commercial vehicle registrations — up 9.3 percent year-over-year and good for the brand’s best first quarter since 1993 — was enough to keep it firmly ahead of the pack as Europe’s No. 1 commercial vehicle brand. Through Q1, Ford holds a commanding 14.5 percent market share, up 0.4 percentage points.

“I’m very pleased to see that now close to half of our sales come from our commercial vehicles and SUVs. This is a trend we expect to grow as we launch more new commercial vehicles, like the Transit Custom PHEV, and SUVs, including the Explorer PHEV, in Europe during the year,” said Ford of Europe Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Service Roelant de Waard.

Ford was Europe’s No. 2 auto brand overall, driven in part by a best-ever first quarter result for the EcoBoost and an 11.7 percent sales increase for the new Ford Focus. Ford also saw more than 72 percent of its Euro 20 sales coming from high-series variants like Titanium, Vignale, Active, ST-Line, ST, and RS), up 2.1 percent from Q1 2018.

Through the first three months of 2019, Ford of Europe’s biggest volume markets are Britain (102,700 vehicles), Germany (81,100 vehicles), Italy (40,300 vehicles), France (30,300 vehicles), and Spain (20,400 vehicles). For market share, Ford is led by Hungary (13 percent), Britain (12.6 percent), Turkey (11.7 percent), Ireland (10.9 percent), and Finland (9.6 percent).
