Can you feel that? It’s invading your senses: the smell of freshly-mown grass, the taste of radish and mustard-smothered hot dogs, the sight of thousands of your closest friends wearing your colors, and the sound of a wooden bat cracking against horsehide and sending one over the fence.
It’s baseball season once again, and before the 2016 campaign can get underway, the champions of 2015—the Kansas City Royals—must be acknowledged properly. Ford is pitching in (pun intended) in that regard, announcing today a 300-unit run of Ford F-150 MVP edition pickups celebrating the champs.

To make the package even sweeter, these 2016 F-150 XLT-based special editions will be built at the Royals’ home field, rolling off the line at the Kansas City Assembly Plant and being sold exclusively at dealerships in the Kansas City Area.
“Like our manufacturing team members at Kansas City Assembly Plant, the Kansas City Royals are a great example of what terrific teamwork can accomplish,” said Gary Johnson, Ford vice president for North America manufacturing.
The 2016 Ford F-150 MVP edition will be offered in Oxford White or Blue Flame, mirroring the Royals’ team colors, and it will feature special MVP badging, stainless rocker panels, spray-in bedliner, and the XLT’s chrome package. The customized elements will be added at KC’s SubTropolis.
Ford tapped former Royal Bret Saberhagen, member of the 1985 World Series Champions, and current Royal Salvador Pérez to promote the new MVP edition, with the former meeting and greeting employees at Kansas City Assembly today.
Ford says it got the idea for the truck, which is ostensibly a follow-up to the 1986 Ford Ranger MVP edition that was released after the Royals’ first World Series win, from fan Marc Lassalle. Well, here’s my two cents, folks at Ford: when Cutch takes the Pirates to the promised land this year, you be sure to gussy up a Buc truck in the black and gold. Fair is fair, after all.
Or How About a Focus RS? A 350-horsepower hot hatch would look great in Pirates colors
