Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford and the first five winners of the William Clay Ford Automotive Design Scholarship
Ford has announced the first five winners of the inaugural William Clay Ford Automotive Design Scholarship, which will award $10,000 to five worthy college sophomores or juniors every year for the next two decades.
The winners, pictured from left to right in the photo above, are Stephen Leu, Lawrence Technological University (Southfield, Michigan); Joe Halazynski, College for Creative Studies (Detroit, Michigan); Rami Khoury, Art Center College of Art and Design (Pasadena, California); Konnor Bartels, Cleveland Institute of Art (Cleveland, Ohio); and Ali Moosavi, Academy of Art University (San Francisco, California).

“I look at the automobile as a rolling sculpture on wheels,” said Khoury. “All of these shapes and forms that move on the street, and yet carry people to their destinations. It has both form and function.”
The scholarship was originally announced in March of last year shortly after the passing of William Clay Ford, who was integral in the design of classic vehicles such as the Lincoln Continental Mark II.
Ford Fund currently hands out more than $8 million every year in scholarships aimed at encouraging students studying in the STEM disciplines. These include the Alan Mulally Engineering Scholarship, Ford Collage Alliance, Ford Driving Dreams, Ford College Community Challenge, and Heart Behind the Oval.
