Ford Motor Company sales were down 4.7% in April at 204,651 vehicles delivered. Ford brand deliveries fell 4.3% at 196,133 vehicles sold even with big retail gains from the Expedition and the F-Series’ 12th consecutive month of growth. Lincoln brand sales fell 12.1% at 8,518 vehicles delivered despite triple-digit increases from the 2018 Navigator.

“The industry continues to operate at historically strong levels. We are seeing this with our F-Series trucks, which have now posted 12 consecutive months of year-over-year gains. The market continues to strongly favor well-equipped SUVs and trucks and our F-Series and new Expedition and Lincoln Navigator are capitalizing on this generational shift,” said Ford Vice President of US Marketing, Sales, and Service Mark LaNeve.

Ford truck sales were up 0.9% year-over-year thanks to a 3.5% gain from the F-Series. Ford sold 73,104 F-Series trucks in April, good for its best April performance in 18 years. High trim levels like the Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited represented nearly half of all Super Duty sales, helping drive a $900 increase in F-Series pricing year-over-year.

Following the announcement that Ford is contracting all of its sedans on the US market within the next two years, Ford brand car sales fell 13.8% at 39,814 vehicles delivered. Every car in Ford’s current lineup, save for the Ford GT, saw its sales decline from 2017.

Ford brand SUV sales were also down, falling 4.9% year-over-year at 63,981 vehicles delivered. The EcoSport continued to impress customers with a total of 5,277 units moved, and Expedition saw a 25.8% increase in sales at retail.

Through April, Ford brand sales are down 2.8% at 773,252 vehicles delivered. Overall Ford sales are down 3.3% at 804,232 vehicles delivered.
