Ford maintained its position as the top-selling brand in the United Kingdom in Q2 2019, accounting for the three top-selling vehicles in the nation. The Ford Fiesta, naturally, was the best-selling vehicle in the UK from April to June, followed by the Transit Custom and the Focus. The success of Ford’s second-quarter sales gives the automaker its best-ever first half sales for commercial vehicles, which topped 68,500 vehicles registered through six months.

“Ford commercial vehicle sales have never been stronger, as shown by the fact that Transit and Tourneo Custom were the UK’s No.2 top-selling vehicle range for the first six months of 2019,” said Andy Barratt, Managing Director, Ford of Britain. “We are determined to continue to grow our commercial vehicle business as we move forward. I’m also very pleased that we continue to lead in the important retail sales segment for both passenger and commercial vehicles.”

Helping drive Ford’s record-smashing CV sales were the Transit Courier, Transit Custom, Transit two-ton, and Fiesta van, each one of which topped its respective segment for sales in the first half of the year.

Ford’s success wasn’t strictly limited to commercial vehicles as it scored an 11.3 percent retail market share for passenger vehicles. The Fiesta helped make this possible with 44,236 vehicles sold in total over the first six months, 11.5 percent of which were the new Fiesta Active crossover.

Ford also enjoyed a great deal of success thanks to its high-series trims like the Active, ST, ST-Line, Titanium, and Vignale. Seventy-seven percent of all Ford vehicles sold in the first half of 2019 were high-series variants.
