The 2018 Kia Sedona, which has ample room for seven to eight people, was praised by U.S. News writer Eileen Falkenberg-Hull for its intense 3.3-liter V6 engine that puts out 276 horsepower as well as its high-end interior and roomy cabin.
The seven-seater 2019 Kia Sorento earned a spot on the pub’s list for several reasons including its comfortable interior, smooth performance, and powerful engine options (the available 3.3-liter V6 allows the Sorento to tow a maximum of 5,000 pounds and generates 290 horsepower).
“The Kia Sorento has received a significant number of upgrades for 2019, making it more desirable than ever for families. It has updated exterior styling and new driver assistance features,” writes Falkenberg-Hull. “It no longer comes in a two-row configuration.”
The 2019 Kia Sportage features two powertrain options: a 2.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic® that generates 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged DOHC four-cylinder engine paired to the aforementioned transmission to put out 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
“The Sportage is a well-round family hauler that ticks a lot of boxes. The Kia is composed on the road and delivers a connected drive experience,” she writes.
The 2019 Kia Soul features an available 1.6-liter turbocharged engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that puts out 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.
“The Kia Soul is an excellent compact car and consistently rates near the top of our ratings,” writes Falkenberg-Hull. “For 2019, Kia upped the ante, making a 5-inch touch screen, voice recognition, and a rearview camera standard. The Soul has a refined interior that features upscale materials, especially in the highest grades.”
