Future of Electric Cars Depends on China says Ghosn, Nissan CEO
As the search for the perfect alternative fuel continues, all heads turn towards our friends to the East. According to Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan, the future of electric cars depends on China. With one of the largest car markets in the world, the entire car market is looking to China for a lead in the alternative fuel market. The second China does make their move, beware of “the explosion of the electric car” as Ghosn says.
While we don’t want car parts flying everywhere due to an explosion, the sentiment couldn’t be more true. If China increases their demand for electric cars, the sales numbers for EVs would be off the charts.
Currently, the Chinese government’s “new energy vehicle” policy presents a goal of 500,000 new energy vehicles on the road by 2015. Originally, new energy vehicle meant electric vehicles exclusively, but this policy has been revised to include hybrids and other alternative fuel options.
