The new Geekmobile will be the Toyota Prius c

If you’ve ever bought a computer from Best Buy, chances are you’ve heard of Geek Squad. Back in 2004, the nationwide chain launched Geek Squad as the country’s very first nationwide computer support task force. Since then, Geek Squad has grown, to the point where its agents now make more than 5 million house calls each year and drive approximately 12.6 million miles each year. That’s a lot of driving, but luckily for Geek Squad, its latest troupe of cars will help save fuel costs and the environment at the same time.

That’s right; Toyota just announced that Geek Squad has purchased more than 1,000 Prius c compact hybrids for its agents to use in their day-to-day business. This is a smart decision on the part of Geek Squad, since the Prius c boasts a city fuel economy rating of 53 mpg. The Prius c is also rated as a super ultra-low emissions vehicle, or SULEV, which means Best Buy and Geek Squad will be emitting fewer carbon emissions while still helping their customers.

The new fleet of Prius c hybrids has been fully decked out with the recognizable Geek Squad logo. Of course, regular drivers of the Prius c won’t get the same color scheme as Geek Squad agents. Rather, they’ll get to choose from a number of bright and cheerful colors, such as Electric Lime Metallic, Sun Fusion, and Tangerine Splash Pearl, as well as more traditional hues like Black Sand Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic, and Moonglow. The Prius c Persona Series allows for even more customization, with exterior contrast-color accents, black alloy wheels, and even a contrast color rearview mirror.

Earlier this year, Automotive News mused the Toyota might cut the Prius c and its larger v sibling from its lineup, though Toyota has yet to comment on this rumor.
