College football season is finally underway, and fans are passionately rooting for their teams. Some supporters choose to wear shirts, and some go all out and paint their faces. However, anyone that has gone that extra mile can tell agree that getting all of the bright color off of skin takes a lot of soap, water, and patience. Spectators that don’t have that kind of time can instead turn to the Nissan Die Hard Fan App for the third season in a row to show their school spirit online. This season sharing photos on game day just got that much easier thanks to a partnership with Facebook.

In partnership with the teams at Facebook and digital experience design agency Critical Mass, the Nissan Die Hard Fan Experience can be used with Facebook Camera Effects. This makes Nissan the first automaker to take advantage of the technology to reach Facebook’s large network of users.

The Nissan Die Hard Fan App was first launched in 2015 and uses facial mapping to apply themed sports paint to a user’s face. According to Nissan, more than 42 million paint face masks have been tried on, with 3.6 million pictures and videos taken. The app has paint schemes for more than 100 of America’s colleges and universities. Different versions of the app have also been launched for other sports, such as the Die Hard Fan Nations app for the Rio Olympics.

“Nissan’s Die Hard Fan App has been a rousing success in the past two seasons, and this year, we wanted to take it a step further – and what better way to do that than via a groundbreaking collaboration with social media giant Facebook?” said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing Communications & Media at Nissan North America. “As one of the first brands to leverage Facebook’s new Camera Effects, Nissan will now be able to reach and engage with college football fans faster and easier than ever before. This is yet another creative way to get fans excited and involved with Nissan and our College 100 Sponsorship.”

Consider taking advantage of the app today to share your school spirit with your friends.
