Earlier today, the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) announced it would be partnering with Toyota Financial Services (TFS) to help girls blossom into self-reliant young women who can make a difference in their communities and contribute to a stronger economy. The multi-year partnership will see TFS donating $2.1 million in funds to help GSUSA achieve its goal.
The partnership is called “Driving My Financial Future,” and will allow TFS and GSUSA to help approximately 26,000 girls in the nation who are currently underserved. The money will allow the Girl Scouts to provide girls with the tools and resources they need to learn financial responsibility, and to figure out how best to use their talents and resources to help build healthier communities.
The Girl Scout Research Institute (GSRI) has found that 90% of young girls say they want to learn how to effectively manage money, and 68% want to learn how to build savings and plan for the future. “Driving My Financial Future” will help build a generation of young women who are self-reliant, which in turn will help improve the overall economy.
“With its unique ability to provide fun, experiential learning, the Girl Scout organization offers TFS a real opportunity to bring “Driving My Financial Future” to tens of thousands of young people across the country, and particularly to those in underserved communities,” commented Mike Groff, president and CEO of Toyota Financial Services.
The donation will help fund financial empowerment events for Girl Scouts, as well as provide a variety of college scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $20,000. In addition, TFS recently launched a “Go Green Campaign” that will see $5 donated to GSUSA for every customer who chooses paperless billing between now and May 31st, up to a maximum donation of $200,000.
