General Motors this month bestowed four of its General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Awards to Magna International Inc., honoring the commitment to quality and performance of four of its manufacturing divisions last year.

GM awarded Magna Electronics Zhangjiagang, Magna Closures Kunshan and Hefei, and Magna Mirrors Jinshan for their work at not only meeting the automaker’s demands for quality control in parts and component parts manufacturing, but superseding that expectation.

“It is a great honor to receive this award from GM,” said Jim Tobin, Chief Marketing Officer and President of Magna Asia. “This award shows our commitment to manufacturing high-quality products to our customers as well as our strong presence in Asia’s fast-growing automotive market. None of this would be possible without the dedication and effort of our employees in each of these plants.”

Earlier this year, Magna International Inc. was also named one of the winners in General Motors’ 24th annual Supplier of the Year Awards.

“Our priorities are focused on building positive supplier relationships, bringing new, customer-centric innovations to GM, and being the OEM of choice among suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, vice president of GM’s Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, with regards to its Supplier of the Year award-winners. “The companies we recognize tonight not only have brought innovation, they delivered it with the quality our customers deserve.”

Magna International Inc. operates 306 manufacturing facilities and 92 product development, engineering, and sales centers in 29 countries. It focuses on producing parts for vehicle bodies, chassis, interiors, powertrains, and electronics among others.
