Today Honda announced that the Honda Battle of the Bands (HBOB) will be returning for its 15th annual Invitational Showcase on January 28, 2017. The showcase will again spotlight eight marching bands from various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

In addition to marking the 15th anniversary of the HBOB, this year’s event will be notable for being one of the final events held at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome before the venue closes its doors forever. This year’s theme, “Celebrate the History, Create the Future,” was conceived to highlight the history of the program and look forward to the next generation of HBCU bands and musicians.

From now until October 28th, fans can go to the HBOB website and vote daily to help their favorite HBCU bands secure a spot in the invitational. $10 tickets for the 2017 showcase start at $10 can also be purchased at HondaBattleoftheBands.com.

“Honda Battle of the Bands is a celebration of these exceptional HBCU student musicians,” said Alexandra Warnier, the manager of Corporate Social Responsibility & American Honda Foundation. “For 14 years, we’ve witnessed an epic display of passion and talent, and Honda is proud to support these students and HBCUs both on and off the field.”

The 2017 Invitational Showcase will be the third consecutive year that Honda presents its Power of Dreams Award, which recognizes outstanding individuals who have had a positive impact in their HBCU community. The winner will be recognized during the Invitational Showcase.

During its 25 years of commitment to the HBCU community, Honda has awarded nearly $12 million to support music and education initiatives, primarily through competitive events such as the Honda Battle of the Bands and Honda Campus All- Star Challenge.
