Welcome back to the Mean Mower saga, an adventure involving lawn mower speed records, featuring Honda and just about nobody else. Clearly, building 190-horsepower lawn mowers is not for everyone. You might even say it requires a manufacturer who is…a cut above?

Lame puns aside, when Honda brought the Mean Mower V2 to shave the grass at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the company had said it believed the mower could do “at least” 150 mph. Well, 11 months later and with stunt driver Jessica Hawkins, Honda finally put its money where its mouth is.

At some race track you won’t have heard of near Dresden, Germany, Hawkins took the Mean Mower V2 from 0-100 mph in only 6.285 seconds, which is faster than some supercars. Then she took it to a top speed of 150.99 mph on a longer run, and you can bet a representative from Guinness World Records was present to make the whole thing official.

New Honda Passport: It won’t mow the lawn, but it’ll ride on it really well

Even though it needs to be to make the record mean anything, arguably the craziest thing about the Mean Mower V2 — besides its CBR1000RR motorcycle engine, six-speed sequential gearbox, 13,000-rpm redline, drag radials and custom Hoosier tires — is that it’s still a functional mower. That means Honda had to deal with all of the extra weight of the grass-shredding mechanical parts, and one of the things it did to save a few pounds was to make the blades in carbon fiber.

In other words, if you were employed to mow the neighbor’s lawn for a few extra bucks over the summer and you decided to make use of this bad boy, you would quickly realize that its only purpose is to make a quick getaway when your neighbor sees the mess you’ve made to their yard.
