American Honda reported 125,775 sales in April 2019, a slim 0.1 percent improvement over its April 2018 performance. Excluding the Acura division, Honda sales were up 0.2 percent, with cars down 2.4 percent and trucks up 2.7 percent.

Several Honda models were able to claim dominance in their segment. The CR-V was the top-selling SUV among retail customers in the first quarter of the year, the Odyssey the top-selling minivan, and the Pilot the third best-selling SUV and gaining.

Meanwhile, the Civic continued its three-year streak as America’s top-selling retail car with 28,436 sales, a 0.1 percent improvement over April 2018, and the Accord also retained its title as the top retail midsize sedan with 19,239 sales.

“As industry sales continue to level off, we are increasing our share of the market through the strength of our car and truck lineups and our disciplined approach to sales,” said Henio Arcangeli, Jr. senior vice president of Automobile Sales at American Honda.

“The compact SUV segment remains a bright spot for both Honda and Acura brands in 2019, with CR-V the outright retail sales leader in the industry’s largest segment, and the Acura RDX the fastest growing model in the compact luxury SUV segment in 2019 and the top-selling retail model.”

Honda also reported that sales of its new Passenger SUV totaled 2,907 vehicles, which it expects will rise as its new marketing campaign helps build momentum; and that electrified vehicle sales were once again above the 5,000 mark thanks to the Honda Insight, Accord Hybrid, and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid.
