Infiniti Q50 History

Introduction

Launched in 2013, the Infiniti Q50 is an executive 4-door sedan that replaced the Infiniti G sedan. The Q50 has a powerful engine and a high-tech interior, while still being highly rated in reliability in safety.

History

The Q50 debuted at the 2013 North American International Auto Show and was available for purchase in the U.S. in the third quarter of 2013 as a 2014 model year. The Q50 was meant to replace Infiniti’s G-line as the luxury automaker restructured its brand and renamed its vehicle lineup.

The original Q50 is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 that lays out 328 hp. The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox across the model line.

Hybrid Model Offering

The Q50 Hybrid is Infiniti’s first entry-level hybrid model, and was introduced at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show.

2014 Q50 Exclusive Designer Edition

Infiniti partnered with Gilt City and fashion designers, Zac Posen and Thom Browne, to create two custom Infiniti Q50 vehicles. The two cars were sold on gilt.com for $75,000, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
