The Nissan Bladeglider concept is largely unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, and that’s just the way we like it

By looking at the Nissan BladeGlider Concept, you probably would just assume that it is another futuristic concept used to get a little publicity that will never even see roadways.  According to Nissan’s insistence that its recently-revealed EV is a prototype of a production car, you would be wrong. If the earliest looks at the BladeGlider are any indication of its potential for badassery, we’re all in.

There is no question that the Nissan BladeGlider is nothing like anything on the road today, and that is probably because the inspiration for the revolutionary concept came from the sky.  Nissan designed the BladeGlider to mimic the sleekness and aerodynamics of stealth planes and, yes, gliders. Its unique three-wheel shape and butterfly doors and narrow track front give the BladeGlider the look of something straight out of a bad sci-fi flick, but there’s a lot of talk brewing that suggests Nissan would like to bring something like this to the masses.

“The goal was to revolutionize the architecture of the vehicle to provoke new emotions, provide new value and make visible for consumers how Zero Emissions can help redefine our conception of vehicle basics,” said Francois Bancon, division general manager of Product Strategy and Product Planning at Nissan, in a press release.

So by all accounts, we should be seeing an electric-powered, zero emission sports car that seats three coming from Nissan in the coming years.  Are you the kind who prefers their cars with four wheels, or would you be willing to give this unique format a shot if it finds its way to the streets?
